Ellie’s Garden Landscaping Project – Yate

From an untouched new build property jungle to an easy to maintain garden...

What was the project?

Ellie wanted a beautiful garden with decking to match her new build home. Access to the garden wasn’t easy but we’re always up for a challenge and taking materials over the back fence kept any mess out of the house.

Ellie knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it done. The project consisted of creating a new decking area and laying artificial turf. She also wanted us to lay a gravel area and build beds from sleepers and we would need to remove a small section of patio to achieve this.

We drew up a 3d visualisation of their ideas as part of the quotation to confirm everything was correctly understood.

Were there any special considerations for this project?

The only access to the garden was through a very full garage or through the house. We had to ensure all materials could be delivered over the back fence to avoid any mess in the house and minimum disruption to the family.

What did the customer say about the project?

“I’m absolutely thrilled with it. It was a complete mess and Pete laid an Astroturf, created borders, a large area of decking and lots of gravelling. He carried out the work without fuss, efficiently and the result is excellent! We would highly recommend Laywoods and will be using them again! Thank you :)” Ellie

Christina’s New Kitchen and Laminate Flooring – Bradley Stoke

Creating a new, modern kitchen with laminate flooring throughout the ground floor...

What was the project?

Ed and Christina wanted a new modern kitchen with laminate flooring, but were worried about the disruption it would bring. They had two young children so they needed the kitchen to be kept as functional as possible throughout the work. We were able to schedule the work in a way that resulted in only one evening without a working sink and two evenings without a cooker/hob.

We were happy to be able to give them the kitchen they wanted with the minimum of disruption.

What were you asked to do?

Ed and Christina wanted a gloss white kitchen like they had seen displayed at a local store. To go with that they wanted oak effect laminate laid throughout the ground floor.

What did the customer think of the work?

My husband and I are not diy people so we asked Peter to fit our new kitchen. He made the whole process so easy. He helped us find the kitchen that we wanted, he even helped find cheaper but better version of things we wanted.

We have used Peter to fit our new floors, paint our walls and for several jobs at our gym. We cannot recommend him high enough:) Christina – Bradley Stoke

How did you ensure the customer got what they wanted?

I discussed with them what they wanted doing in the kitchen and the styles of fittings etc they wanted. I worked with the design team at the local store to come up with the kitchen plan and after confirming the design with the customer, the kitchen was purchased, collected and installed.

We take as much hassle and work away from the customer as possible. It is not just about providing a quality product and workmanship but a quality service as well.

Project timeframe

Six days.

Nick and Irene’s New-build Garden Landscaping Project – Corsham

Transforming a barren muddy garden with new patios, turfing and bedding areas...

What was the project?

Nick and Irene had a new build property with a complete blank canvas to play with. They knew the design they wanted but were concerned with the poor drainage conditions as large puddles formed all over the soil every time it rained.

The main area of the garden was to be turfed, some existing patio areas were to be added to and a new one created. The garden was to be edged with borders that the customer wanted to plant up themselves.

Were there any special considerations or environmental constraints?

The soil in the garden was very heavy clay with poor drainage, so much so that puddles formed all over the garden. To enable turf to establish successfully drainage would be required and new topsoil imported.

We installed a network of gravel drainage channels across the area to be turfed. We installed a layer of topsoil and laid the turf as well as creating new large patio areas.

What did the customer think of the work?

“We found Pete to be reliable and professional in his approach to transforming our garden. He originally did some work for our neighbour, so we were able to see the quality of his work. It was not an easy task we were asking as the new build house garden had to be sorted from scratch. I am sure many others on our estate will be getting Pete to do their garden. We have no hesitation in recommending him.” Nick and Irene

Project time frame

Approximately eight days work. We had a four week time frame allowing soil to settle for turfing.

Katie and Adrian’s Decorating and Bathroom Floor Tiling – Portishead

Decoration of living room, dining room, bathroom and en-suite including a new tiled floor...

What was the project?

We first went to Kate and Adrian’s home to take care of a few odd jobs around the house, making it more child friendly by fitting stair gates, black out blinds and running cables through work tops to hide them out of the way. Whilst there we were asked to quote for decorating the living room, dining room, bedroom and bathroom.

Was any other work carried out?

Since the decoration project was completed, Kate and Adrian have become regular customers and we have been happy to also carry out work to their garden, removing bushes and gravel and laying artificial grass. We also replaced panel fencing in the back garden, dug new borders and fitted a trellis to the garage wall for climbing plants.

What did the customer think of the work?

“I asked Pete around firstly to do a few odd jobs around the house as I am at home alone with my 15 month old daughter and just didn’t have the time to do things. We then asked Pete if he could redecorate 4 rooms in the house. I have to say now it’s all done that I would happily recommend his services for any jobs that he is able to take on. He turned up when he said he would, was very polite and respectful and tidied up after himself once the job was done. The rooms all look so good… A really good professional job and at a very reasonable price. Thanks Pete for a job really well done.” Kate and Adrian

Project timeframe

The decorating work was completed in five days.

Ian’s House Painting

Masonry painting, treatment and varnishing of timber...

What was the project?

Ian thought that the front of the property was looking tired and needed repainting but was concerned some of the timbers would need replacing. We were able to advise him that in fact they could be treated and filled which would extend their lifetime and save on cost.

What work did you complete?

We painted the front of the property including fascia boards all round and on the garage. The final photo is not the same property, this is in fact a neighbours house that we did three weeks later after they saw the quality of the work.

Project timeframe

The work took two days to complete
